Congratulations to Valcucine!

Valcucine, has been selected by ADI (The Italian Association for Industrial Design) for the “Industrial Research” section of the ADI Design Index 2010.

You may recall my post about a 100% Recyclable Kitchen , shows how they combine aesthetic beauty, with function and sustainability.   The conscious use of materials,in context with sustainability, is taken into account, not only for the production process, but also for the product itself.  It is a fundamental goal, at Valcucine.  Respect for the environment, is the common denominator, and the ethical imperative, that is at the basis of all Valcucine’s projects.

The selection for this award,  is an important token to Valcucine’s thirty-year long commitment to environmental matters.  It is expressed by, manufacturing innovative and functional products, based on projects that are focused on eco-sustainability.

Some “Green” Holiday Tips!

This  holiday season, is a tight time, for many families.  While, keeping in tradition, of giving and sharing with family and friends, keep in mind there are things you can do, and services you can offer, that can mean more, than any amount of money you spend. At the same time, in keeping with traditions, you can also take steps to reduce waste, save money and be creative, while making the holidays green and festive.

During the holidays, waste can and does,  increase with extra packaging, gift wrap, disposable dishes, leftover food, and more. The Christmas holiday, generates, more garbage in our landfills, than any other time of the year.

Did you know, that a variety of tips on reducing holiday waste, giving green gifts, and reducing energy consumption is available on the Department of Natural Resources website?

Check Out The Nu-Yello!

Did you know that Yellow Pages advertising is over 100 years old? Unfortunately, since the first Yellow Pages directory was printed back in 1883, there has been very little variation to the formula: businesses pay a premium to advertise in the Yellow Pages directory, and a large directory is printed by the Yellow Pages operator, to be distributed free to the public every year.

Since, the Yellow Pages was started however, the world has changed DRAMATICALLY. Most people now use the Internet, to conduct even their local searches and with their Internet. Today,with enabled mobile handsets permanently by their side, it is becoming almost impossible to justify the continued production and distribution of Yellow Pages paper directories, at such a massive cost to the environment.
