If You Can’t Reuse it- Don’t Buy It!

Apr-17-2010 By Barbara Zak

While out blog-hopping last night, I came across this fantastic article over at Recycled Frockery. With Earth Day being next week, on April 22nd, I knew I just had to share it.
It is a bout re-purposing with plastic bottles.

I found this fascinating quote today:

I must admit that I’ve seen other green building projects and bottle buildings, but this is by far the largest and the nicest yet.  The spacious design makes it usable over a long period for many purposes.  The design takes into account the strength and flexibility factors needed in hurricane and earthquake prone areas. That’s why this is the ideal building material. It glitters, flexes and breathes. People could be making these all over the world, if only we used more of our recyclables for repurposing.recycledfrockery.com, Fantastique !, Apr 2010

You should read the whole article. It’s awesome!

In case you missed it when you visited  that post, don’t forget to stop at Bottleschool.com – they teach building with bottles.

It would be great if we gave more thought to what we throw away.  Or better yet, if we could gather up the floating heap of bottles in the middle of the ocean, and use them for great causes like this.  Then, we would really be making a clean difference in the world! However, keeping any more bottles from entering the landfills or waterways, is a huge step toward many more green tomorrows!

It all began, with the one-hour switch-off, first held in Sydney in 2007.  It was also organized by the WWF, expressing public concerns over climate change. “Such a simple act, yet a hugely powerful one. In going dark, billions wanted our leaders to see the light,” the WWF said on its Website.
