A Lovely Greenscape!
Greenscape Capital Group, increases the environmental sustainability and social responsibility, of our built environment, through the development of sustainable facilities, and the energy retrofitting of existing commercial facilities. This post is in reference to, the new Canopy Parking facility, at Denver International Airport (DIA).
Greenscape’s particular focus, is on the parking industry. They have built, the world’s greenest parking structure, servicing the Denver International Airport, with operating partner Propark America. Many features have been incorporated into the design and construction, to achieve LEED Gold certification. The certification was given to the facility, for including solar, wind and geothermal power generation, LED lighting and electric vehicle charging stations. This industry-transforming development, has been certified as a Demonstrator Site for the Green Parking Council. It will serve as a model, from which new and environmentally responsible parking facilities, will be built in addition to the retrofitting, of existing facilities throughout North America.
Canopy Airport Parking, is a state-of-the-art sustainable parking facility. According to a study, by Architectural Energy Corporation, the total annual cost savings at Greenscape’s Canopy Airport Parking facility, is 70% when compared with other engineering baselines.
Facts about the facility.
The world’s greenest parking facility commenced construction, in May, 2010. It has 4,200 stalls for parking, and services the Denver International Airport (DIA). Denver’s airport, is the 5th busiest airport in the United States, and is the 10th busiest airport, in the world. Denver International Airport( DIA), is rapidly growing, and has been named America’s Best Run Airport. It currently serves, more than 51 million passengers annually. It is the largest airport, by land size in the United States, and the 3rd largest in the world.
Greenscape Capital Group Inc. (“Greenscape”) has deployed an initiative, in keeping with their commitment to environmentally-friendly business practices, called the Environmental Purchasing and Procurement Strategy (“EPPS”). It is based on a set of 5 guiding principles. These principles are used on a daily basis, to guide the environmental and business decisions of the company. They will be used to recommend, changes and actions, that will be taken by Greenscape, to advance the environmental management of the company. The five components of the EPPS are: Energy/ Transportation Efficiency, Carbon Footprint and Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Environmental Stewardship, Waste Management, and the Natural Environment.
They will educate and train staff, on methods to reduce the environmental impact with respect to facilities, utilities and services, as the basis of their Environmental Stewardship program.
In the areas, of Waste Management, and the Natural Environment, Greenscape recognizes, that a clean, healthy and naturally diverse environment, is critical to sustainability. They will seek to help their clients, protect and enhance the natural environment, through implementation of environmentally responsible purchasing and procurement policies.
The Waste Management area, will perform baseline audits for clients, and develop a comprehensive action plan, that includes an education program, to increase awareness of recycling and composting options, available to businesses. They will also assist, with “smart design” production concepts, that generate less waste, and encourage the use of recyclable material.
Greenscape, will be using the EPPS, as the basis for decision making. They will evaluate the economic, environmental and social costs and benefits, associated with making any and all business decisions. This commitment, is to ensure that decisions are not being made at a cost downstream, in the business, environmental, and social spectrum. Greenspace, strives to assure that decisions are achievable, accountable and ultimately, provide the desired result, moving forward to fully sustainable business practices.
