Well, here it is Saturday again.  I don’t know if you agree but, most Saturday evenings, there is just nothing on TV.  At least, that is what I thought last weekend, when I convinced my husband to watch “The Garbage Moguls,” on the science channel.  So, here I was watching this program, mouth hanging open in utter amazement, thinking UNBELIEVABLE!

If you didn’t know, this week has been National Compost week.  Most people that are into gardening, know that worm castings (vermicompost) is like black gold for your garden. I know this to be true, by working at a local worm farm, where developmentally  disabled adults maintain the worm bins. They chop after market fruits and vegetables, feed the worms, and then dry, sift and bag the castings.  You then, can make your own worm tea (liquified worm poop) from the bagged product (castings).

In 2001, two Princeton University students, Tom Szaky and Jon Beyer, set out to turn the concept of  worm compost, into a real-life commercially viable “green” business. Thus, TerraCycle was born.

The TerraCycle Story, is a story of Eco-Capitalism at its finest.  The flagship product,   TerraCycle Plant Food™, is 100% organic certified, liquid plant food, made from worm waste (poop).  It is then, packaged in reused soda bottles, the sprayers are other companies leftovers, and the boxes that they use for shipping, would have been trashed for printing mistakes.  To date, this company has kept at least 100 million tons of plastic bottles, juice pouches, and other types of packaging out of landfills.

Today, TerraCycle  can be credited for not only turning something as simple as worm poop, into a household name, but for leading the way in how we look at many environmental issues.  They look at new and innovative ways to take the waste that people and companies generate on a daily basis, and turn garbage, that would otherwise wind up in our landfills, into 100% profitable and usable products.

TerraCycle has teamed up with such companies as Office Max, Office Depot, WalMart and Home Depot, to name a few of their clients, to bring you new (from recycled material) and unique products.  The company collects all kinds of waste products, such as discarded electronics, soda bottles, drink pouches, cookie wrappers, and yes, worm poop (their flagship product) and turns it into household cleaners,  office supplies, backpacks and other usefully unique products.

This young and unique company, has not only successfully turned trash into gold, but they have given new meaning to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.  They truly are working toward a better tomorrow for the entire planet!

There is no disputing the impact of technology on our everyday lives.  Almost everyone these days is connected to some type of electronic device.  If they are not, they are exposed to some form of technological convenience on a daily basis.  Anything from your microwave, cell phone and computers, use radio frequency waves, which is a form of electromagnetic radiation. The question remains, is this harmful?

Please take the time to watch this startling video segment which just aired on the Australian version of “60 Minutes” about Cell Phones and Brain Cancer. This may be a true “wake up call” for those that still question whether EMR is potentially harmful to your health.

My goal is only to bring you current information on this topic, not to use scare tactics. After all, it is your body, your health and your decision to make, if you feel this is a concern to you.  However, if you or the teenager’s in your home, are always on their cell phone, computer, or plugged-in to some electronic device, you may want to consider some form of protection from EMR.

I certainly am not giving up the use of my cell phone, or the convienences offered by the advances of technology.  However, I do use the biopro chips, throughout my home on electronic devices.  I would rather attempt to be safe, than a sorry statistic.  I hope you agree.

In a prior post entitled, Safety and Cell Phones: What Pregnant Women Should Know, I shared some important information that every one should know.

These waves are the same as those your microwave generates to heat food but at a much lower amount. High amounts of these waves can disrupt body tissues—that’s one reason you wear protective shielding when you get an X-ray. The stronger form of this radiation, such as that used for X-rays, can be harmful to the body, damaging cells and DNA.  It is called ionized radiation. Microwave ovens, cell phones, and other wireless devices also use electromagnetic waves to function, but because the radiation they produce is not thought to damage body tissue, it’s known as non-ionizing. Still, the body absorbs non-ionizing radiation generated from your phone, and these other devices.

Some people are more sensitive to the electromagnetic field and radio frequency waves (RF) than others.  However, here are some signs and symptoms you should be aware of: Constant headaches or pressure in the head, drowsiness, sleep problems, inability to think clearly, rapid heartbeat, high blood pressure, shortness of breath, forgetfulness, burning skin, inner burning, leg weakness, pain in the limbs…and the list goes on. These are just some of the reasons people fight having a cell tower nearby where they live.  The same reasoning holds true, living near a power station or exposure to power poles and above ground wiring.

The next big push in our technological advances, is on June 12, 2009, when we all need to have access to digital TV.  Here is the most recent information you should know about the potential health effects that this may cause. Please take the extra few minutes to read this very important article.

Since my prior post, I have become a consultant for Biopro Technologies.  In my opinion, the very least you should do to protect yourself from the harmful effects of radio frequency waves, is to get the chips,  to break the transmission of the waves into your body.

If you are in need of work, or wanting to make a career change be sure to look at the Biopro Opportunity.  Keep in mind that there are three areas that being a consultant can impact.  The “green” movement is growing and certainly not going anywhere.  Technology is growing and ever changing.  People are and have been paying closer attention to alternative health options in the last five years.  These are just three of the areas that you could impact and influence immediatley.  But, at the very least, protect yourself and your family.

For more information on how you can protect yourself and your children, feel free to contact my friend Katherine, for any questions you may have.  Just tell her I sent you.

It is my hope that you take the information presented here seriously.  After all it is your health and your body, but keep in mind there is  plenty of information we are not meant to know.
