14 Responses to “Question- To Vaccinate Or Not?”

  1. This is scary! Also, it is the first time I had heard about the possibility of vaccines triggering autism. With two young grandchildren still at the age where they are receiving vaccinations, it makes one wonder whether or not they have made the right decision in going ahead with the vaccines. Oh dear, one more thing for Gramma to worry about! Nice, informative post Barb!

  2. Hi Judy,

I must admit that many parents have not kept quiet on this issue, and for good reason. I have often wondered if all the shots that are given are too much too soon. Afterall, when we were children we didn’t receive near the number of vaccines that children receive nowadays. Even though Thimerosal has been removed from the vaccines, not every last bit can be removed. I feel that for many, the vaccines shouldn’t be started until around age three. Perhaps their little bodies just can’t handle it at a younger age.

  3. Hi Barbara

My eldest (son) has Autism -
(30 with mental age of 2years) which I believe was
    caused in part by vaccination.

My daughter 22 now was not vaccinated (after much
soul searching), and is normal. Nor did she catch the
diseases that the vaccination was designed to prevent.

It’s a difficult decision to make and thankfully this one
    turned out ok.

  4. Even though we need vaccinations when we are young to ensure that our bodies immune system can handle a variety of diseases, I still not sure about how autism is part of this. So the mystery continues.

  5. Hi Linda,

Ya, the jury is still out on this issue, but at least they are taking a closer look at the possibility that for some, vaccines could play a role. It is better than no possibility at all, like they have been saying.
I still believe there are several factors involved, including the environment. We must also remember that there probably is not just one cause that affects all…but perhaps many causes.

  6. Hi Mark,

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment. I’m sure many parents feel as you do. The decision is a hard one to make. So long as the fear exists, many will choose as you did. I’m glad all turned out well for you the second time around.

  7. I don’t have kids, so I wasn’t aware of all of this. However, I am not surprised in the least the lack of admission or action on the governments part. Pharmaceutical companies will do anything for profits- it’s absolutely frightening and disgusting and it happens regularly. If I had kids I’m sure i’d do much research but I’d also be sure to research all of the alternatives of helping the babie’s immune system outside of vaccines and likely wait as long as possible and get the minimal immunizations as possible. I haven’t had a flu shot since my parents made those decisions and I”m extremely healthy-
This kind of stuff really ticks me off and scares me at the same time, but I’m glad to be aware of it- thanks

  8. Hi Maureen,

Thanks for your comment. I agree with you totally. Notice my friend Mark’s comment above. It is cause for wonder. So long as the fear and uncertainty exists, more will choose to take their chances and not vaccinate. It worked for you, and I’m sure countless others who have chosen, and are choosing not to.

  9. I cannot believe there is no substance to the fears of parents that vaccines can contribute / cause forms of autism.

Whether or not there is a link Governments around the world should 1) come clean 2) research and publish results as to why there is such a massive increase in autistic spectrum disorders.

If it is not vaccine related then in my non-medical opinion there is overwhelming reasons why food additives should be viewed very suspiciously.

If ministers had to deal with their own child with any form of autism spectrum disorder I think there would be more urgency shown!

  10. Hi Mark,

I’m in total agreement of everything you say here…thanks for sharing your opinion!

  11. My niece is 22 and was diagnosed with autism around age 2. She was a normal child, laughed and made eye contact with us in her early months of life. But my sister said the signs started showing very soon after a vaccine series was administered to her. The doctors later claimed they could pin point the cause of her autism if she were tested – my sister and brother in law agreed to have her tested and of course the final determination was they “couldn’t determine” the cause. We all saw the changes in my niece after the vaccination and there is no doubt in our minds that it caused the autism. True, she may have something in her genetic makeup that left her susceptible when she got the vaccines, but all the more reason that parents be informed of the risks and have a choice as to whether to vaccinate or not. I believe it’s the mercury that was used in the vaccines that causes many of the problems. We can’t rely on our governments to decide these issues for us, as there are many unsafe drugs being approved for use all the time. Thank you for posting about this important issue.

  12. Hi Chris,
Thanks for stopping by and leaving this very important comment. I am in total agreement with you.Just brings to mind the parents who HAD normal children for a brief time. How is it that most of the time a child isn’t diagnosed until between the ages of 2to3? Hmmm…most of the vaccines have been given by then and the damage done. So, they have removed Thimerosal since 1999, but they can’t eliminate every last trace of the mercury in the vaccines. They also don’t have any answers, while the numbers keep growing at alarming rates. I’ve always felt there is much the government doesn’t want us to know. I just thank God everyday that my children (now adults) were normal. But, everytime my grandkids have shots, I cringe and pray that everything will be OK!

  13. Hi!
Two thumbs up already from me for any parents who have autism children. I know it isn’t an easy tasked to take care of them. One of my friends is having an autism son.

    Great site.
